christmas lights

Added on by Jordan Martone.

is there anything more christmasy than pretty strands of lights?  i like cookies and festive music just fine but when you add twinkling lights on a house or around a tree, i'm all SANTA!

my mom is really into christmas decorations. but only the right kind. she has her own code of "classy christmas" that we live by at the Slocum house. everything from the garland to the wrapping paper has to be up to classy christmas code. basically it involves warm lights and all the red has to be more of a burgundy or crimson red. no ronald mcdonald red, no sir.

the christmas tree decorating is a tradition. we all put our ornaments on wherever we like and then mom goes through later that night (when we're all asleep) and rearranges the ornaments to where she thinks they look best and puts in some finishing touches of her own, like flowers and gold-tinsel-type ribbon. its crazy. it also means that, when you are a kid and you put your favorite music box ornament in a special hidden spot on the tree, it probably wont be there the next morning...

this must be where i get my crafty side from...

this is my prized barbie ornament that i loved dearly as a little girl. but now that i'm older, i can't help but think it's a creepy vampire barbie. what IS this thing?!

and the same code of classy christmas goes for the lights on the house. few things are more exciting than coming home to these beautiful lights for christmas. warm lights, no colors. it reminds me of illustrations from the polar express book.
