this christmas was lovely. it was somehow different. like randall boggs from monsters inc. saying "ya hear that? it's the wiiiiiinds of chaaaaange...". we're all growing up.
our christmas started with my dad, sister and myself playing for the christmas eve services at my parent's church. my dad plays piano and sings WAY GOOD. i love hearing him make music. baby kenna also singings very well. i could make a whole post about her... another time. and i got to play on my new violin bow, my christmas present from joe! it's the matching bow to my kono violin.
my bow came from my violin professor. he had me play on it all semester, knowing i didn't really have the money to buy it right away. after my final jury this semester, he took it back. then a week later, i opened it as a gift from joe... surprise!! i had actually been playing on my own bow for two months and i didn't even know it was mine! joe and my professor are in cahoots.
i got joe a snazzy fossil watch and leather watch case. he's turning into a major gq stud before my very eyes. he loves it, i love it, CHRISTMAS!
this year i stumbled upon a pinterest idea to stitch wrapping paper with christmas icons. i figured i would stitch tags and cards instead. they turned out pretty good for the first time. i love making gifts very personal and i feel like gifts mean more when lots of effort is put in to making/wrapping them.
the stockings were bursting, the presents were perfect, the food was abundant, the coffee was flowing, the smiles were bright all day long.
the only downer to christmas day was the fact that i got sick. wah wah wah... woke up with the sniffles and the achey-shakes. but, no cold can stiffle the christmas spirit, lemme tell you!
i am very excited about my gift from my parents: the pencil from paper by fifty-three. (app-store app of the year 2012.) it's a specialized stylus for my doodling app that i use for sketches and designs and such. unfortunately, the company cannot ship their products any sooner than 4 weeks from the purchase date (god forbid a present to arrive before christmas when it was ordered by thanksgiving)... long story short, my pencil has not yet arrived. i am very very excited to receive it though, as it is the perfect present. i am so grateful!
this time visiting my family has been relaxing. a break much needed. a season of peace.
