i forget that my life isn't consumed by school anymore. by this, i mean that i only have college classes 2-days a week. i teach monday through saturday but only have school monday and wednesday. so, even though i finished my finals on monday, i still had to teach all of my private students and work at my various string orchestra teaching jobs, which resulted in a lack of much needed relaxation. but i am happy to say that i am officially on christmas break after today! i took a week off of teaching and all of my schools are out for two weeks. oh, thank you christmas!
here was my past week in photos:
my mom's bi-annual children's choir concert this past weekend was themed "a charlie brown christmas". the kids really got in to it. the costumes, sets, and music all really added to the production that my mom worked so very hard on. her heart for children's music education is huge and it shows.
joe and i both played for this concert. sometimes i think that my parents hire me for this concert as a courtesy because they really just need joe for these things nowadays ;) he's wonderful. all he does is add a shaker to "feliz navidad" and it makes the piece.
over all, it really put us in the christmas mood. children's voices singing christmas songs is something to be cherished and encouraged.
no, that's not meth, it's boiling sugar. i promise.
we did the thing! the slocum's-german-christmas-candy-that-burns-your-fingerprints-off. seriously, it does burn your fingerprints off, as our dear friend sheryl discovered after last year's batch when she was unable to use the fingerprint recognition "touch ID" on her iphone. ha!
this stud is all i need for christmas, thank you.
we are officially eating too many sweets, baking lots of goodies, exchanging presents left and right, and basking in the glory that is murray. (his topper just came in the mail.)
murray christmas, ya filthy animal.
