so, it's oscar season. arguably my favorite seaon. oh, how i love the oscars! i love the oscars even more when they provide jobs for me and joe. *thumbs up*
in addition to being a percussionist, joe works in events, playing and contracting for los angeles premieres, parties, etc. most of them are super hush-hush, so sadly, i cannot blog extensively about them.
but this particular time, i was roped in to help at an oscar after party with joe. madonna's oscar after party. it's really remarkable seeing the other side of things. events don't just plan themselves. there is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that has to be done to make things run smoothly. my job consisted of mainly telling people "sorry, if you're not on the list, you can't get in. i don't care if your publicist said so. yeah, yeah, six degrees of kevin bacon." like a line out of a movie, guys.
just to give you some ideas of how enormous these events are, here are some shots from when joe worked on the hunger games: catching fire premiere. i was the lucky one that got to attend this premiere with our two sisters while joe worked hard.
so, you can imagine what an a-list oscar party was like...
i felt like sharing a tidbit of the more glamorous part of our lives. i hope we run into more post-able events down the road. odd jobs and fun jobs: the life of freelance musicians.
p.s. j-law is just as crazy as we all think she is. hero.
