i am engaged

this is completely surreal and unexpected and i have never been happier!

p.s. i have had 30+ views a day on this blog since the day i got engaged and i think it's because my crazy friends and family are looking for an exclusive blog post.  if this is true, ta-dah! here it is:

the story

it's monday, june 16th 2014, the day after our two-year anniversary and joe and i were going out to dinner at a new restaurant in downtown LA and then we were going to "meet our dear friend amanda for drinks later". i put on my most favorite outfit and actually put makeup on for the first time this summer and we ended up having a very pleasant dinner. on our walk back from dinner, we walked by the walt disney concert hall and i said to joe "we should go up to the garden and see if it's open" and he said "what a good idea!". so we walked up the stairs to reach the beautiful rooftop garden and i was shocked to see a display of candles and roses set up by the fountain. i had no idea what was going on and i was completely surprised. joe and i stood in a heart of roses while i could not help but continually exclaim "how did you do this? are people here? who helped you?" he had me open up a blue tiffany's box and then he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.

i said yes, and tried not to put my hand over my mouth in surprise like every girl does. but i did cry...

*he made it seem like it was my idea! he made sure that i got my nails done so they looked good for ring pictures! he made it seem like the proposal wasn't happening for a long time! he proposed to me at our favorite place in LA!*

i picked a good one.

 thanks for the photos, amanda!

thanks for the photos, amanda!

after i stopped crying and we had taken it all in (i was still in shock) joe drove us to meet our families who were waiting at a restaurant downtown to celebrate with us. it was absolutely the best. our friend amanda was also there (she was joe's proposal helper) and his best friend aaron. we had drinks and lots of hugs and story swapping and plenty of "let me see the ring!".

as of currently, my mom is bursting with excitement and has already bought several bridal magazines, ready to plan a wedding, both of our families are very excited that they don't have to keep engagement secrets anymore, and i am just so thankful for joe. i get to live life beside this handsome, thoughtful, passionate, amazing man.

i cannot wait to be a martone
