as we speak, baby kenna is settling in to her dorm room at cal arts for her CSSSA program, so our sister week has ended. i'm honestly stunned that we didn't get on each other's nerves and that this week was as great as we hoped it would be.
after our LA day, we spent some time at the martone home in thousand oaks, a.k.a. my happy place. joe was excited to show kenna "the shed" where he stores almost all of his percussion instruments (with the exception of his 5 timpani. oy!) and we were pampered by mama martone's nom italian cooking and finished the day with a screening of the lego movie (joe and i hadn't yet seen it.) on the outdoor backyard screen.
then we had a great beach day with joe's two sisters. joe and i got burnt to a crisp, anna and maria got perfectly mediterranean golden brown (pfft) and kenna somehow maintained her pale emma stone glow.
the last day, kenna played tag-a-long with me as i taught all my students. she was so cute, reading and analyzing shakespeare during the lessons. she was very patient, so i rewarded her with boba from my favorite spot and i gave her a mini tour of CSUN. the best part, as always, was the duck pond. more like turtle pond really. according to a very chatty dad who was also feeding ducks, the pond is overrun with turtles. ha!
kenna squealed with excitement because cute animals! and the precious baby ducks! come on!
and so concludes sister week. we had a blast, we had lots of coffee, watched plenty of bob's burgers (great, btw.) lots of laughs, lots of road trip music (i showed her the masterpiece that is the robots soundtrack), and there was lots of sisterly love.
she's going to make a killer maid of honor.
