the stories of a los angeles violinist

painting

i felt like now is as good a time as any to post about my painting hobby. i am, by no means a great artist or a well trained painter but i do love pushing paint across a canvas. whenever i am completely stressed out or need a break from violin (this was very therapeutic when i was having a tendonitis scare.) i paint.

it all started with a picture of the balloon house from UP. i was suddenly inspired two summers ago to put all of my mom's art tips over the years to practice. i knew from my own noodling that i'm an ok sketch artist but drawing people is the literal worst. i had so much fun with the UP painting that i decided to do a few of people-less disney pictures.

out of UP came tangled and then peter pan. i have done a lion king for a friend and i actually sold a copy of peter pan. i got very inspired by frozen back in november, but the 3D animated movies are the hardest to capture with my very limited 2D untrained skills.

joe and i have been non-stop excitedly wedding planning and as we are starting to build a registry, i realized that we love neutrals and textiles a lot. the only color that will be in our future home will come from artistic accents such as my knitting and paintings. joe has been encouraging me to paint more often and to eventually get to larger scale works that would be good to decorate our new home with.

btw, joe and i will have the exact same initals when we get married. funny, huh? he's JAM and i'm JAS, soon to be JAM too. but right now we're JAMS. ha! it makes me laugh... our hashtag is #JAMwedding for future reference...

the incredibles and wall-e are my newest additions to the family. (literally. i finished them yesterday). getting those clean lines on the incredibles was very difficult and time consuming, but wall-e was surprisingly quick to whip up. (sidebar: when joe and i took the latest quiz at disney's california adventure to find out which character is most like you, joe got wall-e. incredibly accurate. so, he requested this wall-e painting. i'm glad he did.)

i'm taking requests, by the way, if anyone wants to chime in.

hope this brightens your day with a little disney. happy friday!
