this post is a mash-up of my excitement about fall and what i've been up to lately.
it's odd. you've been warned.
fall means marching band. joe works for thousand oaks high school (his dad is the band director) teaching percussion for marching band, concert band, percussion ensemble, etc. it's nice when i have free time and can come hang out at rehearsals or their football game performances. this band is an award winning band. truely impressive. i was never a band kid, so it's a very intriguing world for me to get a glimpse at.
how about this new iphone?
it's bigger than a pop tart.
that is all.
meanwhile, at school, i find myself on ferril's door. with joshua bell. fun stuff.
i want to knit/crochet all the things. this little blanket inspired me. pinterest is a wonderful thing. feel free to check mine out, as it is looking delightfully fall-ish lately.
fall clothing inspiration: blazers, leather jackets, nice leggings. it's time for a wardrobe update, as i have recently discovered that i have worn out my favorite pieces in the past year. if my closet could be a blend of express, j. crew, and anthropologie at all times, i'd be in heaven.
new headshot! thank you, ryan doyle.
i've had a couple really fun recording sessions lately. i love recording. Always have, always will. there's something exhilarating about sightreading. i enjoy the challenge.
also, i've concluded that there is no such thing as "good headphone hair". disappointing.
in case you didn't already know, my professor is the best. he purchased a handfull of tickets to the season opener at the walt disney concert hall featuring itzhak perlman and the music of john williams. then he invited his students to come and gave us each a ticket. the concert was absolutely phenomenal in the sort of way that makes you say "i get to live here and go to these concerts and be surrounded by amazing people. life is so good."
they played some of my favorite pieces like the olympic fanfare, schindler's list, catch me if you can, and the ever popular star wars medley. not to mention 3 encores, the final one conducted by j-dubbs himself.
also, we sat with simone porter (a virtuoso young violinist who just made her debut at the hollywood bowl this summer) and elizabeth pitcairn (owner of the red violin). i was geeking out, to put it lightly.
i'll send you off with an oldie but goodie: baby jordie says "happy october!"
