the stories of a los angeles violinist

goodbye 2015

Added on by Jordan Martone.

happy new year, everyone!

my past two end-of-year blog posts have been comparatively different. (you can read 2014 here and 2013 here.) in 2014, i talk about how my year was a much better year than 2013. (oy, 2013.) and i would say, looking back, that 2015 has been the best year in recent memory.

here's a little recap:

i played on my first major jazz big band album

i saw jimmy fallon in LA

i had a successful senior recital

i graduated from freaking college

i got freaking married to the person who makes me better

i travelled out of the country for the first time in my life

i snorkeled for the first time

i had so many amazing violin opportunities

my sister became a teenie-bopper star

i started vlogging

i visited my soul city, paris

i'm not sure what happened in my life to bring me to the amazing year that was 2015, but i'm counting my lucky stars. this year has been a saint. i'm almost nervous that this one cannot be topped.

as i'm editing this post from my hotel bed in paris, france, next to my softly slumbering husband with my view of the eiffel tower out my window, i am humbled. this world is so large but so very, very small. even when you're 5,000 miles away from home, there are familiar hints of home hidden in plain view.

everyone has good years and bad years and i know firsthand that the bad can tend to outweigh the good. life is brutally honest. like a frenchman who has no patience for your broken french and poorly conjugated verbs. i remind myself to treasure the good years because there will always be bad ones. hold on to these sweet moments.

happy new year, happy 2016, bonne anneƩ.
