so, the whyman project went on tour! we had a full weekend of non-stop travel and music. the 405 and i need a break from each other right now...
we won this tour/concert series through the beverly hills auditions 2014. we were one of the 9 selected winners and we chose this weekend to tour around the OC and LA areas. and let me tell you, one girl with 6 boys can be either hilarious or obnoxious, whichever way you look at it.
our first show was at the encinitas public library (very near san diego and a very far drive for us) in their show-room space. it was a gorgeous venue filled with colorful art and industrial ceilings, with a wall of windows facing the ocean. we had the most electric crowd and we played quite well! in my opinion, it's the best show we've ever played. it was an excellent start to the tour.
^ my set up. in addition to being the second violinist for the group, i also play toy piano.
^ i had to. shawn fell asleep hardcore during set-up.
*photo cred to brandon's boyfriend in the audience.
our second show was, well.... we don't speak of it. let's just say they forgot we were coming, so we were forced to play around these whimsical, childish decorations....
but, our third show was amazing. we performed at the greystone mansion in beverly hills as a part of the music in the mansion concert series. the greystone mansion is a beverly hills icon. lots of those open-air tourist busses stop here. the doheny family was a very wealthy, prominent family in the 1920's-30's and their mansion is surrounded in mystery. (money laundering and murder, the whole she-bang.)
the grounds are lush, diverse, expansive, and gorgeeeeeeeous. if you google this place, you'll find that pretty much everything in movies and television was shot here. entourage, national treasure, dark shadows, NCIS, spiderman 1, 2, and 3, and many more. this place is full of old hollywood history and just oozes prestige.
^ this bathroom though...
where we actually performed was once called the living room of the greystone mansion. it was a very small and intimate performance experience where only about 30-40 guests were expected to attend. this series is designed to be a very personal music experience for everyone involved. we definitely shook the place up with our jazz and rock influences. heh heh.
also, i have to point out... chilton!!!!!! yes, gilmore girls fans, this is the high school that rory attended in the first few seasons of the show. i played a concert at chilton, people. still geeking out.
so, that was my weekend. i'm pooped. i had a great time with the guys and i'm very proud of the group for how we performed and that we got to be a part of such a prestigious event. if you care to check us out at all, click here to access our website.
