the stories of a los angeles violinist

around here lately // 006

Added on by Jordan Martone.

things have been relatively quiet around here lately. we've been savoring these last few days of summer before we both go back to work. and by "work" i mean "teaching" because let's be real, gigging doesn't feel like work to us. we're feeling particularly newlyweddy, filling our apartment with our new gifts and lounging around with the majority of our time together in the mornings before joe goes off to gig.

i started making coffee with this gem ^ and it's changed my life. i have a wonderful, large, standard coffee maker but it is too large for my everyday coffee-consumption needs. i just don't need to dismantle and clean a 12-cup maker everyday when i'm just making 2-cups for myself each morning. this thing ^ (i don't know what it's name is. coffee funnel? wilfred? zeus?) is highly convenient and makes for easy clean up.

you're allowed one splurge purchase with the excessive gift cards post-wedding, right? this geometric marble side-table from west elm is my new favorite object. that's such a weird thing to say. i've had my eye on him for a while and now he sits in a new nook i've created. (a home tour is coming up in a post soon.)

i've discovered that red wine + oreos are an excellent combination, particularly when you're editing and binge-watching youtube videos. (i just discovered grace helbig...)

joe and i bought monopoly. it's just one of those things that we felt needed to be in our lives and it was super cheap on amazon. i'll have you know that i'm pretty good at this game. joe is a big spender and it almost lost him the game at one point... until he somehow managed to put 2 hotels on park place and the boardwalk...

joe's in the midst of musical-mania. he just finished a run of hairspray: the musical where he played drum set. now he's playing percussion for west side story. he's never played either of these shows before, so he's loving all the good music. i just love being able to support him in all his adventures.

thanks for all the support, readers! hang in there, it's almost the weekend.
