the stories of a los angeles violinist

no vacancy

Added on by Jordan Martone.

it still amazes me that after 4 years of living in LA, i can still find little corners of this city that will excite me and remind me why i love living here. this time, it was no vacancy.

no vacancy is a bar hidden away down an alley off of hollywood blvd. if someone abandoned the new orleans square area of disneyland and turned it into a secret, speakeasy-type bar, it would be this place. joe and i were introduced to this place by our friend ryan. (we know too many ryans.) every cool new bar we find is always thanks to freaking ryan.

complete with a secret entrance, indoor and outdoor seating, and a stage for live performances, this place was not much different from the magic castle. maybe that's why we loved it so much?

i had my first egg white cocktail! i'm not sure what scared me about them until now, cuz they are so delightful. but this particular drink was called a "china doll". (joe used to tell me that people called me a china doll as an eager freshman in college. how appropriate.) it's one of their most popular drinks, and i could tell why. lemon, coconut, jasmine... nom.

don't make the mistake that we did and not dress-up. they apparently have a strict "no shorts policy".  cuz what's a chic hollywood bar without some ridiculous restrictions?

this place goes down in the books as one of our all-time favorites and we would highly recommed it to any angelinos that are looking to find a new corner to love.
