what? jordan, not a beauty post! you're not a beauty blogger!
no, i'm not. and i do not intend to be. however, i thought it might be nice to share the products i've been loving lately regarding my hair, skincare, and makeup. i thoroughly enjoy these kinds of posts from my favorite bloggers, maybe because i'm nosy(?) but they also give me great ideas of what to try out and put on my next wish list.
i like to work with the natural waves that my hair has by using a limited few products. i shampoo and condition my hair just like anyone else, but i like to air dry my hair afterwards as much as is possible and practical for my life. (AKA when i'm not in a hurry.)
after i shower, i use a little bit of moroccan argan oil on the ends of my hair to help prevent split ends and to soothe what is naturally the driest part of my hair.
then occasionally i will add a pump of paul mitchell super skinny serum to help with flyaways and when i am looking for shinier, smoother hair. (which is not every day.)
my tangle teezer brush was introduced to me by baby kenna and it is my go-to for all my hair brush needs.
right before i blow-dry or use heat stylers, i spray tresemmé's heat tamer all over my hair, then brush it through. i was never a heat protectant person until the past few months and i am kicking myself for not using it sooner. my hair feels much healthier.
then, once i've styled my hair, i use big sexy hair's spray & play to give me that texturized look & firm hold. but on days i just need a good hold (bun or pony tail days) dove's extra hold hairspray does it for me.
i have battled with skincare my entire life. i had unruly acne all throughout high school and college and i still struggle with it today. i have very pale, sensitive skin that can be incredibly dry. (i grew up in the mojave desert. oy.) these are the products that have helped me.
after i wash my face each morning with a simple dove bar soap, i spray a little of the lush eau roma toner water. it's the perfect combination of toner and hydration. it closes up my pores but doesn't dry out my face (hallelujah!)
then i use the eucerin skin calming daily moisturizing creme. it's a great lightweight moisturizer that i love using before i put my makeup on.
a little dab of the body shop elderflower under eye gel wakes up my puffy, tired eyes.
at the end of the day after i take off my makeup, i use the origins high potency night-a-mins cream as a great night cream.
then i top it off with eucerin original healing moisturizer. yes, the super thick and heavy stuff in the jar. when my face is super dry, i swear by this stuff. it also helps protect my skin from my pillow as i sleep.
i use benefit's porefessional pore-minimizing primer as an amazing base for my foundation every day. it's lightweight and doesn't clog my pores. then i use urban decay's primer potion on my eyelids.
my holy grail full-coverage foundation is tarte's amazonian clay. they have a powdered version as well, but i feel like i have a better experience with the liquid kind. i use the palest of pale shades: ivory. i use a beauty blender to apply it all. i could write a whole post on the magic of the beauty blender. when i use this with my tarte foundation, i fool my mom into thinking that i have no acne. heh heh...
speaking of tarte, i love their brow pencil in dark brown for my "italian" eyebrows.
the naked 3 palette is one of those weird cult products that you're not sure if you want/need until you have it. it's the only eyeshadows i ever need and i've had this thing for over a year. it's amazing.
the maybelline rocket waterproof mascara never fails me. i'm a crier, so i cannot go anywhere without waterproof mascara. also that little wand helps me get in my cracks and crevices.
and my favorite blush lately is mac's desert rose. it's super pigmented though, so i only need a couple swipes to get the job done.
so there it was. a beauty post. my first and potentially my last.
hope you enjoyed! happy almost-weekend, everyone.
