the stories of a los angeles violinist

nesting with cacti

Added on by Jordan Martone.

a curious thing happened over christmas and our following trip to paris: all my plants died. which is only funny because all my plants are cactus, which are incredibly difficult to kill. when i got home from our winter vacation, i found myself in this predicament and quickly watered my plants to hopefully revive them. turns out, i over watered them in my haste. they rotted and died about a week later. *sigh*

so it's spring again and i'm giving new cactus babies another start.

i did a little diy with some cork plant-coasters. i found these guys in all different sizes at my local hardware store and just used acrylic craft paint in metallic colors for a little personality. blue painter's tape was perfect for creating sharp lines.

loving my little home lately. i said to joe the other day that i love living in such a small space with so little possessions. we live with only what we need (except the cacti) and nothing more. partially because we have no space, but also because i love having a simple life. we may never be able to live like this ever again. when we have kids, we'll have more, as they grow, they'll have more, our lives will get more complicated as it goes along. i'm trying to cherish this newlywed, simple time in our lives as it may never be the same again.
